TOOLBOX

Jesse Hilson

Smartphones are for carving
boredom sculptures while at work.
Eardrums are for peeling
voices from a diner’s din.
Lust is for creating
forks in peaceful empty roads.
Guns are for denoting
entertaining deaths from not.
Voting booths are for performing
civic surgery.
Women’s hair is for conveying
inner change took place.
Angels are for shifting
light-cones while you look away.
You are for fading
like a program at the end.
I am for fleeing.
